Pump VX186 with screw conveyor: pumping grapes
Case Study - La Torre di Castel Rocchero
Problem
Pumping whole grapes
Solution
Pump VX186-260Q with screw conveyor
The customer and the problem
La Torre di Castel Rocchero is a renowned winemaking company that produces red wines (Barbera, Dolcetto), white wines (Cortese) and sparkling wines (Chardonnay, Moscato, Brachetto).
The company is organized into two receiving areas for grapes destined for the production of white and red wines. The hopper for grapes destined for white wine required that the grapes be moved on to subsequent processes more quickly, while the hopper for grapes destined for red wine had trouble relating to managing stems.
The solution
The company installed one of our VX186-260Q pumps, complete with a screw conveyor. It was placed under the receiving hopper for grapes destined for white wine production. The Vogelsang pump is able to pump up to 80 t/hour of grapes and has increased capacity compared to the previously installed equipment.
The grapes destined for the production of red wine were also transferred to the same hopper; which it is now able to manage 100% of transfers at one single point and pump grapes up to a distance of 40 meters. Grapes that were pumped were not altered and were perfectly suitable for subsequent processes. The crusher-destemmer was also moved to ground-level, thereby eliminating the screw conveyors that lift the stems from the underground hole.
