Trailing shoe system with the highest precision
BlackBird

  • Liquid manure spreading below the crop with up to 12 kg coulter pressure for optimum nutrient utilization
  • Unique placement of the liquid manure due to flow-optimized trailing shoe for minimum contamination
  • Outstanding distribution accuracy due to perfectly matched components (DLG test report 7030)
  • Liquid manure at all outlets within 2 seconds (DLG test report 7030)
  • Better penetration into the soil due to new trailing shoe shape for lowest nutrient losses and long service life

Superior nutrient absorption thanks to precise spreading with the BlackBird
How the trailing shoe system BlackBird spreads liquid manure

The nutrients in the liquid manure only have the optimum effect if they are placed where the crops can absorb them best. This is why every single element of Vogelsang’s trailing shoe system BlackBird is designed to offer maximum precision.

The BlackBird gets its name from the nozzle of the trailing shoes, which have a long, beak-like shape that slows down the flow rate of the liquid manure before it leaves the discharge. This unusual geometry is the result of our flow simulations, and allows the liquid manure to be deposited at the base of the plants in a controlled manner that does not cause splashes or contaminate the plants. Its new, pointed shape helps the BlackBird’s skids penetrate the soil better, and also improves service life.

In addition to this, the centrally positioned precision distributor and sophisticated hose layout also help to improve the precision of the trailing shoe. The fact that the hoses are all the same length also plays a significant role in this. At the same time, the sophisticated hose layout prevents the system from creating V-shaped grooves at the start of its furrow. The discharge hoses are black for optimum UV resistance.

Worldwide number one – The BlackBird® and the ExaCut ECQ
Quality leadership in distribution accuracy and maintenance

The precision distributor ExaCut ECQ was put through its paces when Vogelsang faced up to the strict test criteria of the DLG product testers. And it was a success. According to the DLG evaluation scheme, the precision distributor achieved the grade “Very good” in the test modules “Functionality and work quality” and “Handling, operation and maintenance” from the DLG testing framework for liquid manure application technology. The 15 m wide Vogelsang trailing shoe system BlackBird was tested with two ExaCut ECQs.

Customers benefit from excellent values in distribution accuracy and time. Both for liquid manure spreading and maintenance, which is unbeatable with a maximum of 20 minutes compared to conventional precision distributors.

Features of the BlackBird

The unit is designed to be mounted on either a 3 or 4-point hydraulic system.
The integrated holding and security device in the boom makes the installation easier.
Liquid manure, a valuable commodity, must be spread evenly and reliably in the distribution hoses. Vogelsang precision distributors permit precise distribution of the nutrients with a distribution coefficient of less than 5 percent. This makes spreading a safe and reliable process without fluctuations – which also guarantees even plant growth.

The discharge hoses on the Vogelsang dribble bar systems all have similar lengths, thanks to the optimized hose layout. The liquid manure reaches the soil almost simultaneously from each one, and spreading across the entire working width and length is also guaranteed. This not only ensures optimum lateral distribution accuracy in the linkage, but also prevents the V shape that can otherwise form.
A flow-optimized manure discharge ensures that the manure discharge is controlled and even. The functional skid geometry combs through the crops in clean, even furrows for extremely precise manure spreading.
When driving on the road, the hoses of the dribble bar system are rotated upward 180° so that they are vertical. This reliably prevents leakage and keeps the road clean and safe.
Modified leaf springs compensate for any oscillations out in the field and during folding procedures and transport. Hydraulic cylinders with end-position damping make for smooth folding processes that don’t put too much strain on the linkage.
The plastic compound used for the BlackBird hoses is highly robust and elastic. This makes the hoses resistant to the effects of chemicals and environmental influences. It is also black for greater UV resistance.
Comfort Flow Control (CFC) is the universal solution when it comes to shutting off hoses in any system: part-width section cut-offs, tramline switching or DropStop systems. The CFC is installed in the hose outlets of the spreader device, downstream of the distributor. Each hose or group of hoses can be shut off from the cab. The CFC is versatile and can be used in any unit – dribble bar systems, trailing shoe systems or tillage units.

The passive pendulum compensation in the middle frame ensures that the boom consequently follows the shape of the ground.

The series of the BlackBird trailing shoe system

  • The adaptable one[br]BlackBird 21 - 24 m
  • The Big One[br]BlackBird 30 m

The allrounder
Trailing shoe system BlackBird 12 - 18 m

The BlackBird is available in working widths of 12, 15 and 18 m. It features a detailed design, high-quality materials and impressive distribution accuracy. In the DLG test, the product in combination with the ExaCut ECQ convinced all along the line. The BlackBird fits on any existing tanker and allows fender heights of up to two meters. The BlackBird can therefore be retrofitted without any problems.

The adaptable one
Trailing shoe system BlackBird 21 - 24 m

The BlackBird 21 m and 24 m differs from its smaller brothers 12  - 18 m mainly in appearance. Thanks to the hydraulic arm, the linkage travels through the crop with inimitable ground adaption. In doing so, it adapts easily even on uneven ground, such as a depression, a slope or similar difficult ground conditions. Both side arms of the boom independently compensate for the elevation. Ideal nutrient application is therefore ensured at all times.

The Big One
Trailing shoe system BlackBird 30 m

Big, bigger, biggest: The BlackBird 30 m. More working width combined with the proven advantages of the BlackBird. But the flagship can do more than you think: The BlackBird 30 m is probably the largest and at the same time most flexible linkage in our portfolio. The trailing shoe can be changed to a working width of 27 m, 24 m, and 21 m with the help of different folding mechanisms. This allows it to adapt to the prevailing conditions and is particularly interesting for contractors with a wide range of requirements.
