The VY series rotary lobe pumps for maximum energy efficiency

As customers from the chemical and process industry or the food sector will tell you, who have long relied on Vogelsang‘s trusty rotary lobe pumps: you can depend on this technology. And not only because the pumps effortlessly transport abrasive, aggressive, viscous, or contaminated media such as paint, sugar, wine or raw materials for the construction chemistry from A to B. Depending on your requirements, you can choose between different sizes, delivery rates, speeds, and differential pressures.

With the rotary lobe pumps of the VY series, Vogelsang remains true to these characteristics, which are very important for the economic efficiency of a pump. However, to better meet the highly demanding applications of industry, the housing of these pumps is designed in one piece and with a minimum of sealing points, like that of the EP series pumps. This manufacturing technique results in a high-precision, flow-optimized end product that is highly efficient even with difficult media. The VY housing is also low in dead space and prevents the accumulation of residues.

The efficient pump

The housing of all VY pumps is low in dead space and can be flushed and disinfected in accordance with the requirements for CIP or SIP conformity. Their performance ranges from 1 m³/h to 120 m³/h at a maximum pressure of 10 bar. In addition, the VY series offers the possibility of using a variety of sealing options for a wide range of applications.

Features of the VY series

The one-piece housing is low in dead space and flow-optimized, which increases efficiency. The service friendliness is further increased by the optimized connections.

The low dead space design of the one-piece housings allows for easy cleaning. The pumps can be flushed and disinfected according to CIP and SIP guidelines.

Alongside the standard model in abrasion-resistant gray cast iron, versions in ADI and stainless steel are stocked as well. On request, the components of the pump chamber can be manufactured from duplex steel or a nickel-based alloy. Other options for customization include heat treatment and wear-resistant coatings for the wear plates and housing components.

With our extensive selection of lobe geometry and materials, we will find the right long-life lobe for your media, e.g. NBR, NBR white, EPDM-SL, EPDM-AL, EPDM white, CSM, FKM, PU, stainless steel oder nitrided steel. The lobes can be produced in a straight, double-wing geometry or as 3-wing; 4-wing or 6-wing, pulsation-free HiFlo lobes.

Axial wear plates are made from highly wear-resistant special steel and therefore extend maintenance intervalls. They offer protection for the entire pump chamber and therefore not only simplify maintenance, but also minimize downtime. At the same time costs are minimized.

Options of the VY series

Seal supply systems have the task of keeping the lubricant of a seal at a constant level and maintaining the sealing pressure within the seal.
With its Automatic Supply Unit (ASU), Vogelsang has opened up a completely new world of seal supply systems. The patented system is barely larger than a beverage can and consists of a reciprocating pump that interacts with the seal to pump sealing medium into the chamber as soon as the set pressure deviates.

The wear plates, made from highly wear-resistant special steel, extend maintenance intervals considerablx, simplify maintenance and minimize downtimes. Also your costs are significantly reduce during maintenance.

Unlike conventional lobes, Vogelsang’s HiFlo® lobes ensure pulsation-free pumping and consequently longer lifetimes for the drive and coupling. At the same time, the suction capacity is increased due to the higher number of sealing lines. The improved internal sealing enables suction from deep pits.

An ATEX-compliant version can be supplied for use in areas subject to explosion hazards.

The speed-dependent displacement of the VX rotary lobe pumps makes them ideal for precise longitudinal distribution within the spreading swath. Either screwed directly into the gearbox or in conjunction with the UDS both versions of the Vogelsang speed sensor are used to calculate the flow rate, allowing precise control of the required spreading capacity.

For sealing technology you can decide between the Quality-Cartridge, the new CoX-Cartridge and (for the EP series only) the API-Cartridge.

Applications for the high efficient VY series

The VY rotary lobe pumps are based on Vogelsang’s proven VX series. Different seals can also be variably used in the new housing – depending on industry-specific standards and requirements. This makes the VY series an all-rounder for use in, for example, the chemical industry as well as in the paper and textile sectors. The performance spectrum of the VY pumps ranges from 1 m³/h to 120 m³/h at a maximum pressure of 10 bar. Integrated sensors provide all the important information about the pump’s operating status. For media with abrasive components, the VY series is available with axial and radial wear protection.
